Good day, dear scientists! The Academy of Articles continues our column — publications that will soon lose indexing in Scopus. The previous 2 articles were very useful for many of you, and for the third time we have analyzed the publications that are at risk.
Several journals that we wrote about earlier in our articles have already been removed from Scopus. Here is a list of these publications:
Scopus recently underwent a major purge, excluding 28 journals. Details can be found here here.
So, this time we will look at 2 journals that are at risk of being dropped from Scopus:
Let's start with the first edition - Journal of Infrastructure, Policy and Development.
Recently we have been receiving many letters from this publication inviting us to publish with quick publication and review. We decided to check this publication, as the publication fee is not small - 1200$.
The first thing that was noticed was a sharp increase https://a-articles.com/ua/spisok-zhurnalov-isklyuchennyh-iz-scopus-za-maj-2024-goda/ Number of issues: from 3 issues in 2023 to 6 issues in the last six months. The first 3 issues contain about 30-40 articles, which is within the norm for Scopus publications. Issue 4 has already raised the bar to about 50 articles per issue, and issue 5 has seen a sharp jump — as many as 90 articles have been published. Issue 6 contains 112 articles, and the issue is not closed and new articles are being published in it.
As you can see from the screenshot from the Scopus database, the number of publications this year is almost 4 times higher than last year (not counting the 112 articles that have not yet been indexed). This is a serious signal for the RADAR system, which, when such an increase in publications occurs, immediately stops indexing the journal in Scopus and signals the journal oversight committee to check the publication.
If the publication continues this policy, it will inevitably lead to the exclusion from the index of all articles published in 2024.
We advise you to be careful when choosing such publications, as the publication fee is not small. Currently, the publication has announced that the price will reach 1800$ from July 1. According to our estimates and forecasts, the publication will be excluded from the Scopus database within 2-4 months, and articles from 2024 will be completely excluded from the index.
We strongly advise against publishing articles in such a publication, even if the timing of rapid publication is very attractive, since exclusion of the article from the index will bring even more problems and significant loss of funds.
Now let's move on to the second edition, which we will be talking about today - International Journal of Intelligent Systems and Applications in Engineering.
We also received many letters from this publication offering quick publication for 600 euros and decided to check it out. The publisher, Auricle Global Society of Education and Research, had done something similar with the journal before Educational Administration: Theory and Practice, which was removed from Scopus in May. This is not surprising, since the $1,000-per-article journal published more than 1,000 articles in six months, and all of them were removed from the Scopus database.

Magazine International Journal of Intelligent Systems and Applications in Engineering was accepted into Scopus in 2021. It was published 4 times a year. After acceptance in 2022, 3 additional special issues were immediately published, but this is not as critical as what happened next. In 2023, the journal published 15 issues, of which 11 were special issues, publishing a total of 1027 articles. And in 2024, in just 7 months, the journal has already published 25 issues and more than 1500 articles. The screenshot shows the dynamics from the Scopus database.
Many of you are probably wondering how the journal continued to be indexed in Scopus if it published 1027 articles in 2023. And now there are more than 1500 articles, out of which almost 90% are indexed in Scopus. The secret is in the fields the journal is indexed in. Computer Science and Engineering are the technical fields that are most loved by Scopus. Normal journals in these fields usually publish 1-2 thousand articles per year, and this is the norm for Scopus. So, they tuned their RADAR system so that it is less sensitive to the large number of articles published in these fields. But this will not work forever. This journal will definitely come under review by the journal oversight committee and will be excluded from the database. Articles from 2023 and 2024 with 100% will most likely be excluded from Scopus.
Conclusions:
This time we showed you again 2 titles that we predict will soon be excluded from the Scopus database. As you can see from our previous articles and exclusions, our predictions are coming true. Some titles we wrote about are still indexed, but it is only a matter of time. As soon as they are excluded, we will inform you about it immediately.
We understand that the offer of quick publication is always attractive to our colleagues, but, dear scientists, we urge you to be more careful when choosing a publication or an intermediary company offering you quick publication in an indexed publication. As can be seen from our analysis, the Academy of Articles carefully selects the publications it cooperates with in order not to endanger its clients. We strive to popularize this issue so that more and more Ukrainian scientists are more careful about the places where their articles are published and the choice of an intermediary company. Do not fall for quick publication times for little money, as this will always lead to problems. Follow our column to stay up to date with all the news and not endanger yourself.
Soon we will present you with a new list of publications that will soon lose indexing in Scopus. Until next time!
