Greetings, dear colleagues! With you Vasily Malets — author of the column "Contenders for Exit from Scopus"! We continue our column about journals that may soon lose their indexing in Scopus. You highly rate our materials, send journals for review, thank us, and therefore I am pleased to write for you the sixth part of our column — "Contenders for Exit from Scopus".
Our column is becoming useful for many Kazakh scientists, helping to save both money and time.
This time we will look at four journals that are on the verge of being excluded from Scopus, and some of them have published quite a few Ukrainian scientists:
The first publication to be included in Scopus in 2023, immediately reaching the 2nd quartile due to its high number of citations.
The journal has increased the number of publications from 43 in 2022 to 107 in 2023, and in 2024 to 222, and this is not the end of the year yet.
According to our internal sources, the magazine has entered the Radar system and is currently time verified by Scopus experts.
Reasons:
Our experts analyzed the content of the publication, and all articles published in 2023-2024 are significantly inferior in quality to those published in 2021-2022, when the journal was just submitted to Scopus. The journal also offered quick publication for money.
Conclusion: There is a 90% chance that the title will be excluded from Scopus as it is under review, although this has not been officially announced. We anticipate that articles already indexed will not be removed, but future publications in the journal will no longer be indexed. We expect the title to be excluded in December–January.
More than 200 Ukrainian scientists have recently published in this publication. We have been following it since January 2024. The journal began actively sending out invitations to publish in the multidisciplinary journal Scopus at a cost of $600. Initially, only high-quality articles were accepted, but since June-July 2024, it began accepting everything, increasing the cost to $700.
There is a high probability (100%) that all articles from this journal will be removed from Scopus by March 2025.
The third title on the list that is currently indexed, but all articles from 2023–2025 have been removed from the database. The title received a 2nd quartile ranking and was registered in the United States. The cost of publication was more than 1200 dollars, and many scientists agreed to this proposal.
The journal published more than 800 articles in 2024, all of which have now been retracted.
According to Scopus' new policy, they do not include journals with removed articles in the official list, but the Academy of Articles will continue to monitor such journals.
The publication, which was accepted in 2024 and is focused on advancing research in the field of library and information sciences, began publishing everything after being included in Scopus. Currently, more than 1200 articles low quality.
This publication, according to our forecasts, will be removed from the database. Scopus to February 2025 years with the complete removal of all articles.
So today we have reviewed four titles that are on the verge of being excluded from Scopus. The first title has no major violations, so it is likely that the indexed articles will remain. As for the next three titles, it is highly likely that all indexed articles will be removed.
