{"id":22260,"date":"2026-02-12T17:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T15:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/a-articles.kz\/?p=22260"},"modified":"2026-04-03T18:56:39","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T15:56:39","slug":"excluded-january-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/a-articles.kz\/en\/excluded-january-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Journals Removed from Scopus in January 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"22260\" class=\"elementor elementor-22260\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9957964 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9957964\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c203865 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c203865\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"translation-block\">The January Scopus update resulted in <strong>seven exclusions<\/strong>: five journals were given \"Discontinuation\" status, and two were given \"Journal Change Policy\" status.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Among the titles that have been removed are publications on mathematics, medicine, chemistry, electrochemistry, and architecture from various countries. One of the journals\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scopus.com\/sourceid\/21101247624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">Architecture Image Studies \u2014<\/a> which was previously analyzed in our column <a href=\"https:\/\/a-articles.kz\/en\/scopus-risk-list-12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">\u00abCandidates for Exclusion from Scopus. Part 12<\/a>\u00bb: the exclusion was predicted well in advance.<\/p><p>Before choosing journals indexed in Scopus, it is important to understand that the Scopus journal database is constantly updated, and the list of Scopus journals changes every month. A journal that is included in the Scopus list today may be removed from it tomorrow.\u00bb<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f49c0a8 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"f49c0a8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b779e1d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b779e1d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The journal we warned about has been officially removed from Scopus<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d302637 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d302637\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-pm-slice=\"0 0 []\">In the \u00abJournals at Risk of Being Removed from Scopus\u00bb section, we systematically analyze high-risk journals. This month, Scopus confirmed the removal of a journal we had previously reviewed:<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scopus.com\/sourceid\/21101247624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Architecture Image Studies<\/a> \u2014 a detailed analysis in <a href=\"https:\/\/a-articles.kz\/en\/scopus-risk-list-12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Issue No. 12 of \u00abCandidates for Exclusion\u00bb<\/a><\/p><p>The journal was indexed in Scopus in 2024, but as early as August 2025, it drastically changed its editorial policy\u2014it began positioning itself as \u00abmultidisciplinary\u00bb and sending out mass invitations to authors. An analysis revealed the publication of articles that did not fit the journal\u2019s scope and indications of a lack of genuine peer review.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Typical \u00abred flags\u00bb that we've identified:<\/strong><\/p><p>\u2013 the publication of articles that do not pertain to the stated topics of architecture and design;<\/p><p>\u2013 a sharp shift from a narrowly focused format to a \u00abmultidisciplinary\u00bb one;<\/p><p>\u2013 a lack of high-quality peer review;<\/p><p>\u2013 a rapid increase in the number of publications over a short period;<\/p><p>\u2013 Mass emails to authors encouraging them to submit articles.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>\ud83d\udccaAccuracy of the Article Academy's Forecasts<\/strong><\/p><p>Between 2024 and 2026, 38 of the 44 journals we had flagged in the section \u00abCandidates for Removal from Scopus,\u00bb were officially removed from the database\u2014the highest rate among teams monitoring scientific publications.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa24af1 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"fa24af1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ece5852 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"ece5852\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-623babd elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"623babd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Official List of Excluded Journals (January 2026)<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a82c38d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a82c38d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Below is a list of all the journals that were removed from Scopus in the January update. The current list of journals included in Scopus is not a static document: journals indexed in Scopus today may lose that status as early as the next update.<\/p><p>For Kazakhstani authors, any deindexing means: a publication not being counted toward performance reviews or the conferral of an academic title, risks during the dissertation defense, problems with grant applications under programs of the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Academy of Sciences, as well as the loss of months of work and additional expenses for a new publication.<\/p><p>Under these circumstances, choosing a journal on your own is increasingly becoming a gamble in which the cost of making a mistake is too high.<\/p><p>Our monitoring data confirms this: between 2024 and 2026, 38 of the 44 journals that we identified as high-risk in the \u00abCandidates for Removal from Scopus\u00bb category were officially removed from the database.
