The October update of the Scopus database once again became an alarm signal for the scientific community.
Following the September wave of exclusions, when popular technical and pedagogical journals disappeared from the database, in October 2025 Scopus published a new list of publications excluded due to Outlier Behavior or Publication Concerns.
Among those removed were journals in which researchers from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Iraq, Turkey, and the Middle East actively published.
Most of them fell under the category Outlier Behavior, which indicates suspicion of citation manipulation or excessive publication activity.

Analytics and Conclusions
The publications that suffered the most in the October update were: American Scientific Publishing Group (ASPG) — five journals from this publisher were excluded based on the following criteria: Outlier Behavior.
This recurrence indicates that Scopus is stepping up its fight against "publishing factories" and failure to adhere to scientific integrity standards.
Particularly noticeable is the exclusion of university journals from Eastern Europe, which were previously considered stable.
This confirms that even publications with an academic reputation are now subject to more stringent auditing by Scopus.
What does this mean for researchers?
Publications in excluded journals will not be counted when defending dissertations and in grant competitions.
Some of the articles are already removed from the database, which means complete de-indexing.
Before submitting your manuscript, you must Be sure to check the journal on the Scopus website. (in the section Sources).
If you have already been published in such a publication, it is worth it. Contact the Academy of Articles specialists, to get advice on next steps: resubmission, changing the publication, or developing a new publication strategy.
Conclusion
October 2025 was another reminder: indexing in Scopus is not a lifetime status.
Even well-known journals can be excluded overnight if violations or statistical anomalies are discovered.
In a situation where careers and protection depend on publications, prudence and professional verification of sources are an obligatory part of scientific ethics.
Academy of Articles continues to monitor Scopus updates and promptly informs researchers about new risks, helping them publish safely, confidently, and with guaranteed results.
